Coggeshall's Christmas celebrations got off to a bright start when actor Glen Murphy arrived on the town's fire engine.

The former London's Burning actor, who lives near Dunmow, pulled the switch to illuminate the Christmas tree in Market Hill and start a host of entertainment across the town.
A procession led by Father Christmas, his elves and Coggeshall carnival court circled the centre with music from Colchester and Braintree Scout bands.
Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers and Scouts sang Christmas carols and little ones from Absolute Angels nursery performed festive songs.
Organised by Coggeshall Chamber of Trade Saturday afternoon's fun also included a festive fancy dress competition won by Esme Bennett, three, dressed as a fairy and colourful charity stalls.
