The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will visit Harwich and Colchester next month.
The royal couple are due to visit Harwich on November 25 as a culmination of the year-long Charter 400 celebrations.
Invitations have already been sent out to dignitaries at Tendring Council and Harwich Town Council by the office of Lord Petre, the Lord Lieutenant and the Queen's representative for Essex.
A spokeswoman for the Lord Lieutenant's office said no specific details could yet be given out.
However, she confirmed the royal couple are scheduled to visit Harwich on November 25 before heading off to Colchester.
Emma Danby, spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace, added: "We can confirm she is coming to Essex, although we cannot confirm anything specific until two weeks before."
The Queen's last royal visit to Colchester was on Monday, May 20, 1985, when she officially opened Colchester General Hospital, in Turner Road.
Her most recent Essex visit should have been in 2003 when she was due to visit Chelmsford Cathedral. This was put off when the Queen hurt her knee.
