Students were evacuated from South East Essex College's brand new building in Luker Road, Southend due to a water leak in the reception area.
The £50million state-of-the-art complex opened to students at the end of last month.
A spokesman for the college said: "We have experienced localised flooding in an area of the college and are investigating the cause.
"As a health and safety precaution all the power is to be turned off and students were immediately evacuated quickly and safely.
"We are confident normal service will be resumed on Monday morning."
