Residents' groups today joined green organisations in launching an anti-airport expansion campaign.
Tens of thousands of people are being invited to pledge to 'take personal action to block airport expansion and to prevent companies from supporting and funding it'.
Friends of the Earth (FoE), Greenpeace, Transport 2000 and Heathrow anti-noise group HACAN ClearSkies were among those launching the campaign at Westminster in central London.
The pledge is a response to the Government's aviation White Paper launched last year, which gave the go-ahead for expansion at Stansted and Heathrow airports, as well as work at regional airports.
