Mark Kinsella goes into in his first competitive clash against Colchester United this weekend - eight years after leaving Layer Road.
The former U's favourite joined Coca-Cola League One side Walsall during the pre-season, having been released by Premiership new-boys West Bromwich Albion.
And the Republic of Ireland international admitted that once he had signing on the dotted line at the Bescott Stadium, he was eager to scan the fixture list.
The 32-year-old said: "I picked out the U's games straight away and can't wait to go to Layer Road in January.
"I haven't played a competitive match at Layer Road or against Colchester United since I left aside from a couple of pre-season friendlies while I was at Charlton."
