Police are hunting attackers following two assaults in Clacton.
In the first attack, a teenager was beaten up by four youths before being robbed of his mobile phone. Last night, a man suffered a 5in gash to his skull after being attacked.
The first incident happened on the BMX track in St John's Road, Clacton, at 7.40pm on Tuesday.
The four young robbers approached the teenager then pulled him to the ground. They kicked and punched the teenage victim repeatedly and left him with multiple injuries, including a fractured nose, a fractured rib, a broken tooth, bruising and a split tongue.
The four robbers are described as about 16 or 17 years old. They were all wearing dark-coloured hooded tops.
Last night, a man was assaulted and suffered a 5in wound to his skull. The man, aged 39, of Clacton, was attacked with a long, heavy weapon and was hit over the head.
It is believed the assault took place at 8.50pm yesterday in the Rush Green area of Clacton.
