Craig Fagan has his fingers crossed that he will be back in front of the Colchester United faithful in just under two weeks.

The pacy forward was in hospital last Thursday for surgery on a hernia problem.

But today he was back in the gym undergoing light training in a bid to be fit for the home fixture against Wrexham on Tuesday, October 19.

Fagan, who was voted September's player-of-the-month, said: "It was really disappointing to get injured, after what had been a fantastic spell.

"I scored a terrific goal against West Bromwich Albion to help put them out of the Carling Cup and was on a massive high.

"So to be sidelined like this is annoying."
