Witham Town booked their place in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup as Stanway Rovers' fine run of form came to an end.

Tony Last's Ryman League side won 2-1 at the Hawthorns last night after a goal in each half through Kevin Hawes and Steve Lunn.

Scott Witney grabbed an injury-time consolation for Stanway, who had gone into the game after three straight Ridgeons League division one wins.

Meanwhile, Nabil Abidallah is set to train with AFC Sudbury tonight a week after leaving fellow Ridgeons League premier division outfit Clacton Town.

Heybridge Swifts' transfer target David Head has rejected a new contract offer from Sudbury chief Gary Harvey.
