A major port development will be vital to the future economy of Tendring, a meeting heard.
Tendring Council last night heard the proposed £300 million container terminal at Bathside Bay, Harwich, was integral to the area's development.
A public inquiry has been examining the issues behind a development, related tidal works and the provision of a new wildlife habitat at Little Oakley.
The plans by Hutchison Ports UK have caused a lot of opposition from people who fear a new terminal would destroy wildlife, cause traffic problems and affect the health of residents
