Home-Start Maldon received a cheque for £126,000 from the Big Lottery fund in July, after applying for extra money to help and support families with children under five years old.

Aileen Parsons, senior co-ordinator, said the funding lasts for three years, and would be spent on more volunteers to talk to parents about any parenting difficulties they may be facing.

The cheque will be presented at Home-Start Maldon's annual meeting today when Anna Tomlins formally takes over from its present chairman, Flic Lowe.
