Simon Head returned to haunt his old team with a two-goal salvo for Halstead.
The former Seasiders ace scored the visitors' first and last goals, sandwiching a fantastic solo effort by Matt Carmichael, after Clacton had taken the lead through Mark Towse.
And delighted Halstead boss Andy Clark told the Gazette: "I wasn't happy with the goal we conceded but after that we showed spirit and character to fight back.
"We controlled the second half, to a certain degree. Matt's goal, just after the break, came at an important time and helped turn the game in our favour.
"The lads worked very hard and were always competitive. We were without some key players but those who came in performed well and did themselves proud."
