A grandmother from Dovercourt has scooped more than £200,000 playing bingo.

The 60-year-old, who asked not to be named, saw her numbers come up at the Gala Club in Colchester.

Playing with 500 clubs nationwide, the housewife won the National Bingo Game prize of £200,000, as well as a regional prize of more than £2,000.

She completed a full house in 34 numbers but revealed she faced an anxious wait to see if she had won.

She said: "I was trying not to get too excited because it has gone in 32 or 33 before.

"Then the result came through after 20 minutes and they announced how much I had won. I was in a daze, it didn't register. Then I was awake all night it was all such a shock."
