They're coming! Forget the town mouse and country mouse story, pest controllers are gearing up to take on an invasion of rural rats into Colchester.

The vermin are expected to slink their way into urban areas on the back of perfect summer breeding conditions.
Colchester Council's pest control team leader, Colin Rand, says the cold winter weather will draw them into the town from the countryside in high numbers.
He has warned people to lock up their homes and keep an eye on their gardens and sheds.
