Plaques to give visitors to an Essex town an insight into history are being considered by planners.
Coggeshall Heritage Society is applying for planning permission to put up blue plaques on seven buildings, to commemorate notable historical figures, institutions and events associated with particular sites in the town.
If they get the go-ahead, the society also plans to publish an accompanying heritage trail guide to the sites for visitors to Coggeshall.
The funding for the plaques was made possible by a bequest to the society from the late Stanley Prentice, a well-known Coggeshall resident, who ran a chemist's shop in Market Hill from 1947 to 1990 and died in 2002.
A decision on planning permission for the blue plaques will be made by Braintree Council.
