A mid-Essex man has taken home a new car after putting his money towards a good cause.
David Hannah, bought two tickets for a raffle where the proceeds went to Chelmsford Shopmobilty.
More than £13,000 was made from the sale of tickets and Mr Hannah was delighted to have been the owner of the winning ticket.
Malcolm Tilsed, Chelmsford-based Meadows Shopping Centre manager, said: "The Vauxhall Astra was donated by County Motors in Chelmsford and Mr Hannah did not tell his wife he had bought the tickets so she was surprised when we rang to say he had won the car.
"The couple had been looking to buy a car so this has come along at the right time. The money will be invested in new scooters and will keep the scheme going."
