The fate of a controversial church annexe on Maldon High Street could be decided soon.
Plans to build a £300,00 development on the Grade I listed All Saints Church have caused fierce debate among town residents.
Maldon District Council has received 768 letters of objection to the pyramid-shaped annexe, 134 in support and a petition against the plans signed by almost 300 people.
Objections have also been lodged by Maldon Town Council.
But the planning officer scrutinising the application is recommending councillors approve the proposals, subject to conditions, when members of the central area planning committee meet tomorrow.
