Gary Hudson could be in line for a surprise return to Clacton Town colours for tonight's Ridgeons League premier division clash at home to neighbours Halstead.
The Seasiders have defensive worries with Steff Falla suspended and Paul Champ sidelined with a hamstring injury.
And Hudson - who retired at the end of last season - has offered his services on a short-term basis.
Town boss Alan Dilloway was delighted at the news, but admitted he was still unsure whether to break up the rearguard which helped his side to a 4-1 success at Wisbech on Saturday.
He said: "Gary's offered to help us out and that's fantastic news because he's quality on and off the pitch, but I've still got some thinking to do before kick-off. The back four did very well at the weekend."
