A model enthusiast lost about £5,500 worth of helicopters and model parts during a shed break-in.
Three remote control model helicopters, each more than 45 inches long, were stolen from Broomfield Avenue, Leigh, along with parts removed from other models.
Owner John Davis said he believes the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for and took the more expensive parts from other models.
He said they would have needed a van to remove the two Raptor helicopters - each 50 inches long - plus the 45 inch long Shuttle, a model which is no longer produced.
They also damaged other aircraft as they tried to take the engines out.
Mr Davis has contacted local flying clubs and also plans to check the auction website ebay to see if someone tries to sell the helicopters.
