SOUTHEND United are today expected to secure the loan signing of striker Freddie Eastwood from Grays Athletic.
The former West Ham United trainee is set to ink a month-long deal with the Shrimpers after Steve Tilson's side drew another disappointing blank during a resounding 4-0 drubbing at Darlington on Saturday.
"Freddie is someone who has scored a lot of goals in the non-league game and we are going to be having a closer look at him," confirmed Tilson.
"He has a good record and we need to score goals. We are on the look out all the time and, with both Lawrie and Drewe out injured at the moment, I thought we needed to bring someone else in."
Eastwood bagged 37 goals for the Conference South outfit last season to win the management's player of the year accolade, and is expected to appear alongside trialist forward Alex Revell, formerly of Cambridge Utd, for Blues reserves at Millwall tomorrow.
