Mr Pearson, 48, of Skelmersdale Road, Clacton, works for EDF Energy in Wyncolls Road, Colchester.

He will be using pedal power to get him from the company's corporate head office in London - all the way to its parent company in the French capital.

The three-day cycle ride will cover nearly 200 miles and is to raise vital cash for National Children's Homes.
