A football boss fears a car park sell-off would spell disaster for his club.
Tony Armstrong, chairman of Harwich and Parkeston FC, said it would be a huge blow if Tendring Council went ahead with the sale of land next to the Royal Oak ground.
The council is selling the former Isolation Hospital site, in Main Road, Dovercourt, which includes a car park used by more than 100 drivers for each home game.
Mr Armstrong said: "If this sale goes ahead it would have an absolutely devastating effect on the club."
Harwich Town Council is also concerned and wrote to the district council outlining its worries.
But in a letter of reply, officer Andrew White said the car park was under used and financially unviable to keep.
