Police are issuing a warning to residents after arresting a woman believed to be connected to bogus charity collections in the Brentwood area.
The woman has been bailed pending further enquiries, but police are looking to remind residents to be cautious when approached for donations to charity.
A police spokesman said: "We would remind residents to check the credentials of anyone who calls at their home and they should not let them in if they are not happy with who they say they are.
"Charity collectors should also have identification which should provide information about their organisation. If anyone is suspicious they should call their local police station."
Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by a bogus charity collection should contact Pc Tony Lewis on 01277 262212.
