Developers are refusing to give up on the prospect of a new retail park for Maldon.
Ambitious plans to build units for furniture and DIY shops and restaurants on land close to Safeway, by Wycke Hill, have again been revised and submitted to Maldon District Council.
Dartmouth Park Estates, controlled and funded by Bentalls Shopping Centre in Heybridge, failed to win support for the scheme with three previous applications last year.
Undeterred the company has now sought to address some of the council's previous points of concern and presented a fourth application for the site.
Once again the Maldon Town Council is objecting to the application on the basis that it is outside the town's development boundary and would destroy a nature reserve and an area of rural land.
It believes a brownfield site should be used for the development instead.
