Bomb experts were called to a ticking package - only to find it was an antique clock.

The package was found outside staff offices at Harwich International Port on Tuesday morning. It had been left for a member of crew outside the Freight Services Building.

But the alarm was raised at about 8am because of concerns it might have been a bomb.

The area was sealed off and Army bomb disposal experts were called in from Colchester Garrison. The building was evacuated.

Investigators discovered the package was a clock and no detonation was carried out.

Business was back to normal by 9.15am.
