East Colchester will benefit from a cash windfall of £250,000 to drive forward its regeneration.
The money will help pay for a new project manager, who will work to resolve outstanding legal issues in a bid to get the regeneration scheme moving forward.
It follows a partnership between Colchester Council and Essex County Council, which has secured £250,000 in funding for the town's four regeneration projects.
The partnership, known as Colchester Renaissance, will support up to £100 million of new private sector development.
