The mother of a teenager who died following a moped accident is pleading for calm in the aftermath of his death.
David South, 16, of St Giles Crescent, Maldon, died on Friday following an incident with a taxi, operated by Arrow's Taxis, at the junction of High Street and Wantz Road.
He was riding his moped along High Street when he was involved in a collision with the Mondeo car driven by a 19-year-old Maldon woman just before 7pm.
Since the accident, cars belonging to the taxi firm have had glass bottles, eggs, and other dangerous items thrown at them.
David's mum, Pat, and her partner, Russell Stone, are now asking for the dangerous behaviour to stop.
A police spokesman said: "Since Friday's tragic crash, there have been youth nuisance problems and criminal damage aimed at Arrow's taxis. The crash is still being investigated by police. Until that investigation is complete, it would be wrong to point the finger of blame."
An inquest into the death of David South was opened and adjourned at Chelmsford Coroners' Court yesterday.
