The court case surrounding the death of a man in Maldon's marine lake is set to be discussed by councillors behind closed doors.
The council's legal team will be presenting a report of the trial and its outcome to councillors assembled at Maldon District Council's full council meeting today.
The Health and Safety Executive prosecuted the council for failing to meet statutory safety requirements when father-of-two Kevin Gay died after hitting his head on a submerged post in the lake in 2002.
The council was found guilty and ordered to pay a £75,000 fine and £125,000 for the legal costs of the prosecution. The costs for its own legal team were paid for from insurance.
