Bogus callers have struck again and stolen cash from two homeowners in Jaywick and Clacton on the same day.
In Marlowe Road, Jaywick, a woman was sitting in her lounge when a man walked into the room and said he was a gardener.
He told the woman his father was in her garden and they were going to give her a quote for some gardening work.
Elaine Seymour, for Clacton police, said: "He walked round her house and when he had left, the woman discovered £300 was missing."
It happened at about noon yesterday.
In Knox Road, Clacton, at 11.30am yesterday two men posing as water board officials stole £270 in cash.
