Two men from Rochford and Leigh have appeared in court after dawn raids on alleged brothels in east London and Essex.
Richard White, 48, of Dalys Road, Rochford and Nicolas Slesser, 29, Eastwood Road, Leigh, are charged with conspiracy to live on immoral earnings on or before 30 April 2004 and conspiracy to control prostitution for gain.
The two who appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court yesterday, are alleged to have been part of a nine-strong team which made a fortuneselling sex to customers at six bordellos.
They were arrested in an operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police's Clubs and Vice Unit assisted by Southend's tactical team on July 21.
The six other men arrested in Aveley, Dagenham, and Canning Town appeared in court charged with the same offences.
A woman from Dagenham has been charged with conspiracy to control prostitution on or before April 30 2004.
Senior district judge Timothy Workman granted them all conditional bail on the grounds they do not go within 500 yards of the properties and hand in travel documents.
They were bailed to appear at Southwark Crown Court on October 19, when a date will be set for pleas to be taken.
