Colchester and East Essex are the new PDQ Cars North Essex Cricket League champions.
They snatched the title from under reigning champions Halstead's noses in a winner-takes-all last-day decider at Star Stile.
It had been nip-and-tuck for the leadership all season and, going into the final day heading the table, Halstead lost the toss and were put into bat.
Colchester's bowlers Ryan Savill, Andrew McGarry, Vinny Bird, Greg De Silva and Iain McQueen were always on top and took wickets at regular intervals.
Halstead were made to struggle for their total of 116 for nine.
The new champions were never under any pressure and, with opener Tom George leading the way with a fine half-century (52), they eased to victory on 120 for three with 11 overs and seven wickets to spare.
