An overwhelming number of estate agents back plans for a second runway at Stansted according to two surveys by an international law firm.

The results of the two surveys also claim there is an underlying confidence in the local property market.

One hundred estate agents from across Essex and 20 more from within ten miles of the airport were asked their views about the impact of transport infrastructure and airports on the housing market and house prices.

According to DLA's findings, a large majority believe expanding Stansted will boost the local economy and the local property market.

Mark Pendlington, communications director of BAA Stansted, said: "This latest survey does support our view that there is confidence in the longer-term property market.

"The professionals, who are selling houses and talking to property buyers, clearly believe a growing airport helps increase demand for homes, which in turn helps to protect property values."
