An environmental campainer has urged Colchester Council to clamp down on illegal parking in the town centre.
Paula Whitney, of the organisation Friends of the Earth, spoke out at last night's strategic overview and scrutiny panel meeting.
She said: "It is a year since we first asked the council for the illegal parking in the High Street and Head Street to be stopped.
"Someone nearly got run over this week by having to go out into the road as the bus could not get to the kerb due to all the parked cars."
Richard Gower, Colchester's portfolio holder for planning and transport, said he was due to attend a meeting with John Simpson, head of street services, on Friday to discuss the issue.
He added he hoped something would be available for members to see on the subject by the end of the year at the latest.
