A couple told how they thought there had been an explosion when a car smashed into the front of their bungalow.
Jackie and Michael Collins were asleep in their home, in Alpha Road, Point Clear, when the accident happened. At first they thought it was an explosion.
Mrs Collins said she rushed into the kitchen while her husband, Michael, ran into the garden to investigate. The couple discovered a Toyota Avensis car lodged in the wall of their spare bedroom.
It appears a 95-year-old motorist was reversing his car early Sunday morning when he went up the kerb and through the couple's brick wall. The car became embedded in the front of their home.
A spokesman for Clacton police said the motorist was not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
