A student has been released on police bail after a teenager was left for dead in a hit and run incident.
The 17-year-old was found unconscious with serious injuries following a collision in Tilkey Road, Coggleshall, in the early hours of Saturday.
He was taken to Colchester Hospital in a critical condition, but was today described as "serious but stable".
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "The incident was reported to police just after 12.30am. A 17-year-old victim was taken to Colchester Hospital with head injuries and was initially in a critical condition but he's now being described as serious but stable."
