Police and fire crews spent several hours dealing with a lorry fire which closed a busy stretch of road.
The lorry was bound for Harwich International Port when its load of scrap metal caught fire yesterday on the A133 slip road leading to the A120.
It happened about 7.30am and the road had to be closed for three hours. Firefighters from Wivenhoe, Weeley and Brightlingsea dealt with the blaze.
A crane was brought in by Wheelers - the Brightlingsea company which owns the lorry - to empty the cargo on to the carriageway. No-one was hurt in the incident and it is not known how the fire started.
