EASTWAY Essex Senior League clubs produced some good results in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.
Southend Manor, whose FA Cup heroics ended the previous weekend with defeat by Billericay Town, kept their Vase hopes alive with a 1-0 home win over Ryman Isthmian Clapton, James Haydon scoring the only goal after two minutes.
Eton Manor, who play home games at Tilbury, won 2-0 at Ely City with Delroy Forde and Johnny Quinn on target.
On the downside, Hullbridge Sports crashed 4-0 at home to North Greenford United and London APSA were thrashed 6-2 at Whitton United.
And Bowers and Pitsea were beaten 3-1 at Crown Avenue by Harefield United.
Of the rest, Brentwood produced one of the best results when they triumphed 2-1 over a Harpenden Town side well placed in the Minerva Spartan South Midlands League.
And Enfield Town saw off Chalfont St Peter, from Ryman Division One, 3-1 at home.
Winners on Saturday collect £500 and the first round proper draw was taking place today.
Other results: Biggleswade United 2, Burnham Ramblers 2 (replay tomorrow); Newmarket Town 1, Barkingside 0; Romford 2, Biggleswade Town 0; Thetford Town 1, Waltham Abbey 4.
Ryman League Billericay Town enjoyed a 6-1 home win over struggling Kingstonian, with Danny Hockton hitting a hat-trick.
