DJ Matt Jay is celebrating following his non-smoking club night, which has raked in thousands of pounds for charity.
But the 31-year-old has now received some heartbreaking news that hammers home just how important this event is to him.
Matt organised Airwave, the first ever non-smoking club night in Southend, last month and raised more than £3,000 for Southend Hospital.
Matt's aim was to thank the people who helped save his life and to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking and passive smoking.
He said: "People said it was really nice to go home and their clothes didn't smell and they weren't coughing."
The event was held exactly a year after the DJ was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in his airway.
Matt - real name Matt Lea - was only ever a light smoker but believed working in clubs surrounded by people smoking was a major factor in his illness.
Sadly, after believing he was clear of the cancer, it has returned and has now moved to his liver.
Matt, originally from Canvey but now of Southend, is now going to London to find out if a new form of chemotherapy could help him.
But he is determined for it not to affect his plans for the next Airwave club night at Club Ego.
Airwave will be back at the Eastwood club on Saturday, October 2.
