The widow of an Essex Police officer killed on duty will be at the first National Police Memorial Day service.
Susan Bishop's husband, Brian, was shot by a robber in Frinton in August 1984 and died several days later.
Mrs Bishop, who lives in Colchester, will be at the service at St Paul's Cathedral to remember police officers who have died doing their job.
She will be joined by her son and daughter-in-law, as well as dozens of other guests, including members of the Royal family, politicians and other dignitaries.
Mrs Bishop, 57, said: "It is nice to think they are going to be recognised. There will be a lot of people there who are in the same position as we are."
Since Mr Bishop's death, Mrs Bishop has been involved in the work of the Essex Police Memorial Trust, which has overseen the creation of a roll of honour, a memorial stone, and a book of remembrance for police officers killed on duty.
