Thanks to the Nazis, an invasion of the UK may have succeeded where Hitler failed 60 years ago.
David and Sandra Hodges point to where they saw the raccoon
A mid-Essex couple have reported seeing a raccoon, a native north American mammal introduced to Europe by the Nazis, strolling across a country road near Witham.
David and Sandra Hodges, of The Street, White Notley, saw the distinctive animal with its black mask and black and white striped tail walking across the Witham road near Faulkbourne Hall as they drove home late one night.
Mr Hodges said: "From a distance, it looked like a young fox but when we got closer we saw it was definitely a raccoon - we looked it up on the internet when we arrived home.
"It took its time crossing the road. There was no hurry at all. We couldn't believe it. But they've been seen around the country."
