ALAN Pardew believes the prospect of taking on money-bags Chelsea in the Carling Cup will fire up his players.
Hammers travel to Stamford Bridge for a third round tie against Jose Mourinho's Premiership high-fliers in a game which has already captured the imagination of supporters.
The prospect of encountering ex-players Joe Cole, Glen Johnson and Frank Lampard adds extra spice to the London derby, while it also gives the Irons a chance to test themselves against one of the best squads in the country.
"It will generate a real buzz at the training ground amongst the players and staff," said Pardew.
"This is one to get really excited about -- I am certain we will easily sell all our allocation of tickets and the fans will have a great night out at Stamford Bridge."
The two sides have only met once before in this competition, with Don Hutchison scoring the winner in his first spell at Upton Park back in 1994.
