A new centre in mid-Essex for patients with life-threatening illnesses has been given a massive cash boost.
A cheque for £100,000 has been presented to Farleigh in support of the hospice planned for a site close to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
The money, from Chelmsford Borough Council, will go towards the purpose-built unit, which will include a day centre, a family support area enabling play therapy for bereaved children and holistic care treatment rooms.
The donation is from the council's capital programme, used to fund long-term investments in the borough.
Building work on the 4.8-acre site adjacent to Broomfield Hospital will get under way soon with the first patients due to move in by January 2006.
