SOUTHEND United striker Drewe Broughton is hoping to start for the Shrimpers against his former Kidderminster Harriers side this weekend.
The 25-year-old forward has endured a frustrating start to the season but is hoping to reap the rewards of his hard work against Jan Molby's strugglers on Saturday.
"It's up to the gaffer what role I play but it would be nice to start against my former side I must admit," said Broughton.
"But I haven't played much lately so I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to start.
"It's obviously been frustrating for me but then I have to hold my hands up and say my first three or four games of this season were well below the standards I set myself from Christmas onwards last year.
"It was a case of back to the drawing board for me but I've been working hard in training and I felt I was back to my best playing for the reserves yesterday."
Blues reserves went down 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hornchurch yesterday.
