A former Royal Navy engineer has reached his 102nd birthday.
Happy birthday - Bob Wright has turned 102
Bob Wright, who was born in 1902, celebrated the big day yesterday at the Wheatcroft Day Care Centre in Wellesley Road.
Mr Wright, who now lives in Jaywick, had been an engineer during the Second World War, installing radio transmitters into submarines. He even helped to set up a secret protection service.
Originally from Sutton in Surrey, Mr Wright retired to Clacton and is now cared for by his daughter, Fredericka, and at the Wheatcroft Day Care Centre.
Mr Wright, who has been visiting Wheatcroft since 1996, will be celebrating his birthday at the centre.
