Ram raiders using a stolen 4x4 vehicle today smashed into a shop and tried to steal a cash machine.
Boarded up - the front of the shop today
The shop has been plagued by similar incidents in the last few years, including till snatches, break-ins and an armed robbery.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the latest raid at the One Stop convenience store, in High Street, Kelvedon.
A gang tried to steal the cash machine by reversing into the front window with a grey Toyota Land Cruiser.
The incident happened at 3.30am, and police believe the thieves then dragged the machine from the store using a rope tied to the Toyota, taken hours earlier from an address in Clairmont Road, Colchester.
Anyone with information on the incident should call Braintree police on 01376 551312 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
