THE doom-mongers have no place at Upton Park, according to manager Alan Pardew.
But after leading his side to their seventh win in 11 competitive games this season the boss admits he is baffled by the lack of excitement around the club.
Yesterday's 3-2 win over Notts County continued a more-than-solid start to the season, and brought a welcome return to action for several players.
Yet it attracted a crowd of barely 11,000, many of whom were clearly unimpressed with much of what they saw.
"I don't know what it is, but there seems to be an air of disappointment about the place," said Pardew.
"We are bowling along quite nicely even if we can't be as fluent and as technically superb as we would like.
"The important thing this season is to win enough games, and we are starting to win them."
Apart from the result, Pardew was pleased with the contribution of goalscorers Bobby Zamora and Sergei Rebrov.
