Airport operator BAA has responded to claims it is trying to expand Stansted on the cheap, calling them "hurried" and "reactionary".
Following the announcement the airport owner was to launch a scheme for people whose homes had lost value following the Government's White Paper in December last year, Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE) accused BAA of trying to ignore its reponsibilities to the local community.
The Home Owner Support Scheme deals with about 500 homes within a 66 decibel noise contour of the proposed new boundary.
But SSE has said thousands of local residents have been ignored. A spokesman for BAA Stansted dismissed the claims as "alarmist" and said SSE could be contributing to the blight.
