PATIENCE is still the key for West Ham supporters according to manager Alan Pardew.
A section of the home crowd were heard booing the players from the field after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, while striker Marlon Harewood was a regular target for frustrated fans during the match.
The was an obvious disappointment for Pardew, especially after his team had produced some of their brightest football of the season in a vibrant first half - especially with a potentially tricky Carling Cup tie at home to Notts County tonight.
"I don't really know what to make of it," he said. "I know we have a home crowd who expect us to win every game.
"I'm pleased with the way the side settled down quickly, especially with so many new players.
"My only disappointment with the performance was that we didn't finish that game with a quicker tempo."
Tonight's game will give a chance for several fringe players and first-teamers recovering from injury to take on the Magpies.
Recent signings Calum Davenport and Carl Fletcher are both cup-tied, while Charlton will not allow on-loan Chris Powell to play.
Meanwhile Teddy Sheringham and Mattie Etherington could both be rested, as in the previous round against Southend United.
Notts County will not be able to field loan striker Youssef Sofiane against his parent club, a further blow to the side who currently lie bottom of League Two.
