Another chapter of football history was written on the final whistle of this Coca-Cola League One match.

Milton Keynes Dons formerly Wimbledon won for the first time at Layer Road in four League and cup outings since their first meeting back in 1979.

Just for good measure the lowly MK Dons outfit also chalked up their first league away win of the season as well and no-one can say they did not deserve it.

Old habits die hard they say as lacklustre Colchester found to their cost. The U's have consistently conceded goals just before half-time and so it proved yet again.

The first half was moving into the third minute of time added on when razor-sharp Dons top scorer Izale McLeod fired the visitors ahead with what proved to be the all-important winning goal.

But things might have turned out so differently had the U's Gareth Williams not been brilliantly thwarted twice at close range in the first five minutes by the Dons stylish keeper Scott Bevan.
