A man was shot in the back with an air gun pellet as he was on his way to deliver birthday sweets at a school.
Ken Lawson, 45, of Writtle Close, Clacton, was on his way to give sweets to nine-year-old Belinda, of whom he is a guardian, when the incident happened.
"Whenever it's the children's birthdays we always give them sweets to give to children in the class," Mr Lawson said.
At 1.45pm yesterday he decided to take the treats to Ravenscroft Primary School, in Nayland Drive, Clacton, where Belinda is a pupil.
"I felt a big sting. I was determined not to let them see it hurt me and carried on walking into the school," he said.
