Bus drivers have voiced their disapproval over their proposed relocation following the sale of a bus garage.

First buses has finally sold the bus garage in Fairfield Road, Braintree, to a property developer. It is believed it is aiming to move out of the premises by the end of the year.

Staff at the garage confirmed the sale of the site, which has served buses in the area for 80 years.

A member of staff, who did not want to be named, said he believed the company was in negotiations to move to a site outside Braintree and some of the drivers will now work out of Chelmsford as a result.

He said: "We are not really happy about it. We have got used to the place. Having to move out of town is not such a good thing."

A spokesman for First was unavailable for comment.
